Diamond Angels Benefit Concert 11/2011

]]>Diamond Angels Charity Benefit concert 2011 for Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. The amazing lineup of rock stars performing at the concert this year were David Pack (Ambrosia), Wayne Nelson (Little River Band) and Brian Howe (Bad Company). Phil Ehart (Kansas) also treated us to a cameo performance on drums. Phil produces the music for this annual event and it was a treat to watch him rock out with David Pack.

The band backing the artists for this concert were Billy Livesay (guitar & vocals), Keith Cronin (drums), Steve Argy (bass & vocals), Don Fedele (keyboards & vocals), Luna Jade (vocals), and Jody Fedele (vocals).

This was one of those times when I wish I could have split myself in two. My primary focus for this event was on singing and performing, but I still managed to capture some photos... as did Keith (thank you, KC :)

Every photographic event is a learning experience (actually, that goes for pretty much every event in life :)

With this one, I learned that I need to make use of my user programmable settings so I can store a few tried and true, easy-to-switch-to configurations for different lighting situations so I can just grab the camera and shoot, or when I'm handing the camera off to someone else. In my haste, I forgot to make some crucial adjustments this time (like forgetting to set the Lumix LX-5 to capture in RAW instead of JPG - DOH!)

Still, even if some of the images are less-than-perfect, I am so grateful to have been able to capture the memories!

]]>A photographic chronicle of a wonderful event in honor of a beautiful man to benefit a very worthy cause.

The Classic Rock & Roll Party – a Tribute to Clarence Clemons to Benefit Home Safe, the Big Man's favorite charity, at Hard Rock Live, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on 10/1/2011.

For the last five years, Clarence Clemons, the legendary saxophonist and member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, had served as host of Home Safe’s annual fundraising initiative – helping to raise considerable amounts of money to aid abused children and victims of domestic violence. Sadly, he passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in June from complications of a stroke.

The stellar roster of musicians who performed in honor of Clarence Clemons at the event included:
Jake Clemons, Davy Jones (The Monkees), Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Gary U.S. Bonds, J.T. Bowen (Clarence Clemons and the Red Bank Rockers), Alan White (Yes), Bobby Blotzer (Ratt), Alto Reed (Bob Seeger), Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge), Brett Loewenstern (2011 American Idol), The School of Rock (South Florida), Dale Powers, and Clarence Clemons Band - the Temple of Soul (Keith Cronin, Billy Livesay, Steve Argy, John Colby, Randi Fishenfeld, and Tomas Diaz).

I had the pleasure of capturing photos of this benefit concert last weekend as the band photographer. Each photographer has their own vision that they bring into play when they shoot. For me, there is more to an event like this than just the up-close images of the featured artists and esteemed speakers. All involved – musicians, artists, speakers, venue, and all those behind the scenes – gave 100% of their performance and effort to make this event the success that it was… a true tribute to the man and one of his cherished missions.

The panorama shots from the event give you a taste of the big picture… a visual of the event on a grander scale.

]]>"Rock 'N The Hard Place" Benefit Concert 2/19/2011

S eaSide Music & Technical productions and The Bicol Clinic Foundation presented their first annual “Rock ‘N The Hard Place” benefit concert on February 19, 2011 at the Mizner Park Count de Hoernle Amphitheater in Boca Raton, Florida.

This free concert event featured a stellar lineup of artists... the audience was treated to an excellent show!
Headlining the event were Clarence “The Big Man” Clemons and Temple of Soul and Ambrosia, with performances by The Livesays, Johnny Wattson, and prolific hit songwriter Dennis Lambert.
